Sanju Samson Stars as CSK Defeat Delhi Capitals by 8 Wickets in IPL 2026

Chennai Super Kings delivered another commanding performance in IPL 2026 as they defeated Delhi Capitals by eight wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Monday night. Chasing a target of 156, CSK completed the run chase comfortably in 17.3 overs and strengthened their position in the points table.

Delhi Capitals struggled to build momentum after being asked to bat first on a slow surface. The Chennai bowling attack maintained tight control throughout the innings and restricted the home side to 155 for 7 in 20 overs. Sameer Rizvi emerged as the top scorer for Delhi with a fighting 40, while Tristan Stubbs added useful runs in the middle overs.

The spin duo of Noor Ahmad and Akeal Hosein played a major role in controlling the innings. Noor picked up two important wickets, while Hosein delivered an economical spell that kept pressure on the Delhi batters during the powerplay and middle overs.

Samson Leads the Chase with Classy Knock

In reply, Chennai Super Kings lost an early wicket but quickly recovered through a brilliant partnership between Sanju Samson and Kartik Sharma. Samson anchored the innings beautifully and remained unbeaten on 87 from 52 deliveries. His innings included a mix of controlled stroke play and attacking shots against both pace and spin.

Kartik Sharma supported him well with an unbeaten 41, as the pair guided CSK to victory with 15 balls remaining. The duo handled the chase calmly and never allowed the required run rate to become a concern.

CSK Bowling Shows Major Improvement

After a difficult start to the tournament with the ball, Chennai’s bowling attack has shown impressive improvement in recent matches. The bowlers once again executed their plans effectively and adapted well to the conditions in Delhi.

The win also provided CSK with an important boost in net run rate as the race for the playoffs continues to intensify in IPL 2026.
