Abhishek Sharma Leads India’s Explosive Start

India made an aggressive start after choosing to bat first.

Abhishek Sharma smashed 61 runs from 28 balls, providing the platform for India's big total. His innings included three fours and seven sixes, giving India momentum during the early stages of the innings.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi added 15 from nine balls, while Ishan Kishan scored 20 from 18 deliveries.

India then accelerated towards the end of the innings, with Tilak Varma producing an unbeaten 51 from 22 balls. Shivam Dube also contributed a quick 27 from 15 balls as India reached 211/6.

The combination of a fast start and a powerful finish gave India a challenging total on the Korogi Sports Park surface.

Tilak Varma Provides the Perfect Finish

After India's top order established the platform, Tilak Varma took control during the final overs.

The left-hander's 51 off 22 balls* helped India cross the 200-run mark and put Pakistan under significant pressure in the chase.

His late acceleration proved particularly valuable, with India adding the runs required to set Pakistan a target of 212.

Pakistan’s Chase: Hasan Nawaz Keeps Hope Alive

Pakistan began their chase knowing they needed 212 runs to win the gold medal.

Saim Ayub contributed 29 from 22 balls, but Pakistan were unable to maintain the required scoring rate throughout the final stages.

India Retain Asian Games Cricket Gold

The victory means India have successfully defended their Asian Games men's cricket gold medal.

India also won gold at the previous Asian Games in Hangzhou, where their men's final against Afghanistan was abandoned because of rain and the result was decided according to the tournament regulations.

This time, India completed the job on the field, defeating Pakistan by 19 runs in the gold-medal match.

India Complete an Unbeaten Asian Games Campaign

India entered the final without a defeat in the tournament.

Their semi-final victory over Sri Lanka was particularly dominant. India scored 169/7 before bowling Sri Lanka out for just 45, winning the match by 124 runs.

Pakistan also reached the final unbeaten after defeating Bangladesh by six wickets in a rain-reduced semi-final.

The final therefore brought together two unbeaten sides, with India ultimately maintaining their perfect record.
