Key Players to Watch

Shreyas Iyer

Iyer will captain India in the T20I series and the final two ODIs. His leadership across formats will be an important part of India's campaign, particularly as the team assesses its combinations for upcoming international tournaments.

Shubman Gill

Gill will lead India in the first three ODIs and the two-Test series. The tour will provide him with another opportunity to guide India's white-ball side before taking responsibility in the longer format.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli

Both senior batters are included in India's ODI squads. Their experience will be valuable as India prepare for the 2027 Men's ODI World Cup cycle.

Jasprit Bumrah

Bumrah is included in the Test squad and will be one of India's key fast-bowling options during the two-match series. His availability and workload will be important considerations for the team management.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

The young batter is among India's T20I selections. The tour offers him an opportunity to gain experience at the international level alongside established players.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Bhuvneshwar's inclusion in the T20I squad is a notable development. His experience with the new ball and ability to bowl at different stages of an innings give India another pace option.

What the Tour Means for India

The multi-format tour gives India a chance to evaluate different combinations across T20Is, ODIs and Tests. The split ODI captaincy and separate squads for the first and final matches also reflect the selectors' plans for managing personnel across the series.

The white-ball matches will be particularly relevant as India continue preparations for the 2027 Men's ODI World Cup. The Test series, meanwhile, will provide a different challenge in New Zealand conditions, where movement with the new ball and changing weather can influence the contest.

With 12 international matches scheduled over six weeks, the tour will test India's depth across formats and offer opportunities for both senior players and emerging talent.
