India vs England 2nd ODI Live: Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer Rebuild After Early Wickets

India regained control of the second ODI against England through a composed partnership between Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer after losing three wickets inside the first half of the innings at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff.

At the end of 31.3 overs, India were 178/3, with Virat Kohli unbeaten on 65 off 65 balls and Shreyas Iyer unbeaten on 43 from 39 deliveries. The duo stitched together an unbeaten 67-run partnership, helping India recover from an uncertain position and keeping the visitors on course for a competitive total.

India made a positive start after being asked to bat first, but England fought back with timely breakthroughs. Rohit Sharma scored 26 off 47 balls, while captain Shubman Gill added 31 from 30 deliveries before both batters were dismissed. Ishan Kishan, replacing the unwell KL Rahul, managed just one run, leaving India at 111/3.

With the innings at a crucial stage, Kohli once again demonstrated his experience by taking charge of the rebuild. The former India captain rotated the strike intelligently, punished loose deliveries and brought up another fluent half-century. At the other end, Iyer played with positive intent, finding regular boundaries and ensuring the scoring rate remained healthy.

England's bowlers maintained disciplined lines for most of the innings, but Kohli and Iyer gradually shifted the momentum in India's favour. Their partnership denied the hosts further breakthroughs and provided the ideal platform for a late acceleration during the final overs.

With more than 18 overs still remaining and established batters at the crease, India will now target a total in excess of 300, a score that could put significant pressure on England in a must-win contest.
