Nepal produced an impressive all-round performance to defeat Oman by 113 runs in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 on October 13, strengthening their finish to the ongoing campaign.
After winning the toss and choosing to bat at Al Amerat, Nepal posted 263/8 in 50 overs. Their bowlers then dismissed Oman for 150 in 40 overs to seal a convincing victory.
Rohit Paudel Leads Nepal's Batting
Captain Rohit Paudel anchored Nepal’s innings with 61 runs off 67 deliveries, including three fours and a six. Arjun Kumal contributed 40 off 59 balls, while Ishan Pandey and Basir Ahamad scored 37 runs each.
Karan KC provided the late acceleration Nepal needed, smashing 40 off just 16 deliveries. His innings included four sixes and helped Nepal finish with a competitive total of 263/8.
For Oman, Shah Faisal and Shakeel Ahmed claimed two wickets each.
Nepal Bowlers Dismantle Oman
Oman struggled early in their chase and slipped to 41/6, leaving the hosts with a steep challenge.
Captain Vinayak Shukla fought back with 77 off 83 balls, while Jay Odedra scored 25. The pair added 83 runs for the seventh wicket, briefly delaying Nepal’s victory.
However, Nepal maintained control and eventually bowled Oman out for 150.
Nandan Yadav took three wickets for 12 runs in six overs, while Sandeep Lamichhane finished with 3/28 in nine overs. Dipendra Singh Airee added two wickets, with Karan KC and Lalit Rajbanshi claiming one each.
Karan KC was named Player of the Match for his valuable contributions with both bat and ball.
What the Result Means for Nepal
The win followed Nepal’s 24-run victory over Canada on October 11, giving them consecutive wins in the Oman leg of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2.
Nepal had already lost the chance to finish in the top four and advance directly to the World Cup Qualifier. Their remaining objective was to finish among the top six and protect their ODI status for the next League 2 cycle.
Nepal’s next scheduled fixture was against Canada on October 17. Another strong performance would help them maintain momentum as they pursue that target.
