Pakistan have appointed Sahibzada Farhan as their new T20I captain, marking a significant change in the leadership of the national side. Farhan will take charge of Pakistan's T20I team ahead of their upcoming three-match series against Sri Lanka.
The leadership change comes after Pakistan made changes to their T20I setup following their recent international commitments. Farhan's appointment gives the team a new captain at an important stage as Pakistan continue to build their squad for future T20 competitions.
Sahibzada Farhan to Lead Pakistan in T20Is
Farhan has been rewarded for his recent performances and growing importance in Pakistan's white-ball setup. The right-handed batter has emerged as an aggressive option at the top of the order and has impressed with his ability to score quickly in the T20 format.
His appointment also represents a major opportunity for the 28-year-old to establish himself as a long-term leadership option for Pakistan.
Farhan's first assignment as captain will be the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka, beginning on October 9.
Salman Ali Agha Dropped From T20I Squad
As part of the leadership changes, Salman Ali Agha has been removed from the T20I captaincy and left out of the squad for the Sri Lanka series.
Salman remains part of Pakistan's ODI setup, meaning the changes are currently focused on the shortest format rather than the team's entire white-ball structure.
