Sunrisers Hyderabad have reportedly secured the return of left-arm pacer T Natarajan through a trade with Delhi Capitals ahead of IPL 2027, with leg-spinner Zeeshan Ansari set to move to the Delhi-based franchise. The reported deal brings an experienced death-overs specialist back to Hyderabad while giving Delhi another option in their spin-bowling department.
According to reports, Natarajan's revised contract fee will be ₹5 crore, while Ansari will join Delhi Capitals at his existing fee of ₹40 lakh. The move could prove significant for both teams as they begin shaping their squads for the next edition of the Indian Premier League.
T Natarajan Returns to Sunrisers Hyderabad
Natarajan previously represented Sunrisers Hyderabad between 2020 and 2024, establishing himself as a reliable option with his left-arm pace, accurate yorkers and ability to bowl under pressure during the closing stages of an innings.
The Tamil Nadu bowler enjoyed an impressive IPL 2024 season, claiming 19 wickets and finishing as SRH's leading wicket-taker. His performances played an important role in the team's run to the final, where Hyderabad finished as runners-up.
Delhi Capitals subsequently signed Natarajan for ₹10.75 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction. A reported return to SRH at a revised fee of ₹5 crore would give Hyderabad an experienced Indian fast bowler without the same financial commitment as his previous contract.
His familiarity with the franchise could also help him settle quickly into the team's plans. For SRH, securing a bowler with proven death-over skills would provide another option when defending totals in high-pressure situations.
Zeeshan Ansari Set for Fresh Start at Delhi Capitals
Ansari made his IPL debut for Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2025, taking six wickets in 10 appearances. The leg-spinner showed glimpses of his potential during his first season and gained valuable experience competing at the highest level of franchise cricket.
A move to Delhi Capitals would give the young spinner an opportunity to establish himself in a new environment. Delhi will assess how he fits into their bowling combination, particularly when conditions favour spin.
For Ansari, the challenge will be to build on his initial IPL experience and deliver consistent performances whenever opportunities arise. His ability to develop as a wicket-taking option could prove valuable as Delhi work towards assembling a balanced squad.
What the Reported Trade Means for IPL 2027
The reported exchange reflects two different squad-building priorities. Sunrisers Hyderabad would regain a familiar left-arm pacer with a strong record in the competition, while Delhi Capitals would add a young leg-spinner to their bowling resources.
Natarajan's return would be particularly relevant for SRH given his previous success with the franchise and his experience in pressure situations. Meanwhile, Ansari's move could offer him a fresh opportunity to compete for regular selection.
With IPL 2027 still ahead, both players will be looking to make the most of the reported changes. The final impact of the deal will depend on their availability, form and the roles assigned to them during the season.
