Virat Kohli’s domestic stint this season may extend a little further. The senior India batter is expected to feature in one more game for Delhi in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025–26 before linking up with the national side for international duties.

Kohli, who has already turned out in Delhi’s first two matches of the 50-over competition, is likely to be available for the league fixture against Railways on January 6 at the KSCA Ground in Alur. Sources within the Delhi & District Cricket Association have indicated that the experienced campaigner remains part of the squad for that encounter.

After completing his domestic commitments, Kohli is scheduled to rejoin the Indian squad in Baroda for the upcoming three-match ODI series against New Zealand. The opening ODI will be played on January 11 in Vadodara, followed by matches in Rajkot on January 14 and Indore on January 18.

While Delhi could benefit from Kohli’s presence for one more match, Mumbai are unlikely to have Rohit Sharma available for the remainder of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The India captain is not expected to feature again in the competition.

Rohit made a strong impression in Mumbai’s opening game, producing an attacking century against Sikkim in Jaipur. However, his campaign stalled in the following fixture, where he was dismissed without scoring against Uttarakhand at the same venue.

Kohli Continues Strong Run of Form

Kohli entered the Vijay Hazare Trophy in excellent rhythm, following a prolific run in India’s recent home ODI series. His confidence and clarity at the crease have been evident, translating seamlessly into domestic cricket.

Making his return to the tournament after nearly fifteen years, Kohli began with a commanding century against Andhra in Bengaluru, setting the tone with a composed yet authoritative innings.

He followed it up with another valuable contribution against Gujarat, once again anchoring the innings and guiding Delhi through key phases of the contest.

With Delhi still pushing to build momentum in the league stage and international commitments approaching, Kohli’s likely appearance against Railways adds further intrigue to the closing phase of the competition.
