Why This Tri-Series Matters
The tournament is an important part of the three teams' preparations for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2027.
England, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will have an opportunity to test different combinations, assess players and build momentum ahead of the global tournament.
The format also provides each team with two league matches against every opponent before the top two sides meet in the final.
Jos Buttler Injury Adds to England's Selection Questions
England will enter the tri-series without Jos Buttler after the wicketkeeper-batter was ruled out because of a hamstring injury suffered during the recent ODI series against Sri Lanka.
Jordan Cox replaced Buttler during England's third ODI against Sri Lanka and scored 76 as England secured a 223-run victory.
Buttler's absence could give England an opportunity to further assess its wicketkeeping and batting options ahead of the 2027 World Cup.
What Comes After the Tri-Series?

Sri Lanka are scheduled to remain in Pakistan for a three-day match in Islamabad from November 4–6, followed by a two-Test World Test Championship series.
