Warm-Up Matches Round-Up: India A, Afghanistan and Italy Register Key Wins

India A delivered a dominant batting performance to register a convincing 38-run victory over the United States of America in their warm-up fixture. The foundation of the win was laid by Narayan Jagadeesan, whose fluent century anchored the innings and allowed the rest of the lineup to play with freedom.

The innings began at a brisk pace as Priyansh Arya attacked early, ensuring India A raced through the powerplay. Tilak Varma, returning to competitive action, looked comfortable during his stay and added stability through the middle overs. Captain Ayush Badoni then took control late in the innings, accelerating sharply to lift the total to an imposing 238 for three.

USA responded with intent and never allowed the chase to drift completely out of reach. Andries Gous and Sanjay Krishnamurthi struck the ball cleanly, while Harmeet Singh and Mohammad Mohsin added late momentum. However, consistent breakthroughs ensured the target remained beyond reach. Ravi Bishnoi led the bowling effort with three wickets, while support from Khaleel Ahmed and Naman Dhir sealed the result with balls to spare.

Afghanistan dominate Scotland in opening warm-up

Afghanistan made a strong start to their campaign with a comprehensive win over Scotland in Bengaluru. After losing early wickets, the innings was rebuilt through a commanding partnership between Darwish Rasooli and Ibrahim Zadran. Rasooli’s aggressive strokeplay shifted the momentum decisively in Afghanistan’s favour, while Mohammad Nabi provided a late flourish.

Scotland’s reply never gained traction. Azmatullah Omarzai struck regularly, and disciplined support from the rest of the attack ensured Scotland were unable to mount any sustained resistance, folding well short of the target.

Italy hold nerve to edge past Canada

Italy claimed a narrow 10-run victory against Canada in a closely fought contest. JJ Smuts led the batting effort, supported well by Harry Manenti, to set a competitive total.

Canada appeared well placed during the chase but struggled to maintain tempo in the closing overs. Italy’s bowlers held their lines effectively, conceding few boundaries and applying pressure at key moments to close out the match.
