Ashleigh Gardner Stunning 124 Lights Up WBBL 2026 Against Hobart Hurricanes

Ashleigh Gardner produced a sensational batting performance, smashing a magnificent century to guide Sydney Sixers Women to a formidable total of 196/8 against Hobart Hurricanes Women in the seventh match of the Women's Big Bash League 2026.

Batting first, Sydney Sixers Women finished their 20 overs with 196 runs on the board, thanks largely to Gardner's outstanding innings of 124 off just 60 deliveries. The right-handed batter dominated the opposition bowling attack, striking 10 fours and nine sixes at an impressive strike rate of 206.67.

Gardner's innings provided the foundation for a big total after Sydney suffered an early collapse. Sophia Dunkley was dismissed for a duck, while Ellyse Perry managed only three runs. Melie Kerr also fell cheaply for one, leaving the Sixers under pressure early in their innings.

However, Gardner changed the momentum with an aggressive display of power hitting. She found boundaries regularly and punished the bowlers whenever they missed their lengths.

Alice Capsey provided excellent support, contributing an important 54 off 40 balls, including five fours and one six. Their partnership helped Sydney recover from the early setbacks and push towards the 200-run mark.

For Hobart Hurricanes Women, Nicola Carey was the leading wicket-taker with three wickets. Chinelle Henry and Molly Strano claimed two wickets each, while Heather Graham picked up one.

Hobart Hurricanes Struggle in the Run Chase

Chasing 197 for victory, Hobart Hurricanes Women faced an extremely difficult start. The visitors were reduced to 22/4 in 6.1 overs, losing four important wickets during the powerplay.

At that stage, Hobart needed another 175 runs from 83 deliveries, with the required run rate climbing to 12.65.

Sydney Sixers Women were firmly in control at the latest available update, but the final result was still pending.

Gardner's remarkable century remained the defining performance of the match, putting the Sixers in a strong position to secure victory.
