Sarfaraz Khan 139* Puts Mumbai in Command in Ranji Trophy

Sarfaraz Khan continued his impressive run in domestic cricket, scoring an unbeaten 139 to put Mumbai in a commanding position against Himachal Pradesh in the 2026–27 Ranji Trophy.

At stumps on Day 2, Mumbai had reached 398/4, establishing a substantial 258-run first-innings lead after bowling Himachal Pradesh out for 140.

Sarfaraz anchored Mumbai’s innings with a composed century, while captain Siddhesh Lad contributed 87 runs. Wicketkeeper-batter Akash Anand remained unbeaten on 58, joining Sarfaraz in an unbroken partnership that strengthened Mumbai’s position.

Mumbai’s bowlers had set up the contest earlier, with Tushar Deshpande claiming four wickets for 46 runs to help dismiss Himachal Pradesh cheaply.

Sarfaraz’s latest century is his 18th in first-class cricket and comes after he was left out of India’s Test squad for the upcoming New Zealand series. His performance underlines his continued productivity in domestic cricket as he looks to strengthen his case for an international recall.

Mumbai will look to build on their substantial lead when play resumes.
