Suryansh Shedge's Australia A Heroics Could Earn Him Maiden India ODI Call-Up

Mumbai all-rounder Suryansh Shedge is reportedly in contention for his maiden India ODI call-up for the upcoming series against New Zealand after delivering impressive performances against Australia A. The 23-year-old has strengthened his case with contributions in both departments, including a four-wicket haul and a match-winning 66 in the unofficial one-day series. His ability to combine seam bowling with aggressive lower-order batting could make him an attractive option for India's selection panel.

Shedge's performances have come at an important time for the Indian selectors, who are assessing their options ahead of a demanding international schedule. His ability to contribute as a seam-bowling all-rounder could provide the team with additional balance, particularly with the ODI series scheduled ahead of the Test matches on the New Zealand tour.

Impressive Show Against Australia A

Shedge made a strong impression in the List A series against Australia A in Puducherry. He claimed four wickets in one match with his seam bowling before producing a match-winning 66 in the final one-day encounter, demonstrating his ability to influence games in both departments.

The Mumbai cricketer had initially joined the India A squad as a replacement for Hardik Pandya. He made the most of the opportunity, delivering performances that have reportedly brought him into contention for a maiden ODI appearance for India.

Shedge has already represented India in three T20 Internationals during the England tour earlier this year. Having returned to competitive cricket after recovering from a hamstring injury, he will be keen to build on his recent form and establish himself as a regular option at the highest level.

India's Selection Plans in Focus

India's upcoming tour of New Zealand will feature five T20Is, five ODIs and two Test matches. The ODI series is scheduled to begin on November 4, with the selectors also considering the workload and availability of players required for the subsequent Test assignments.

Shedge's inclusion would give India another seam-bowling option capable of contributing useful runs in the lower middle order. However, his selection remains a reported possibility, with the official squad announcement required to confirm his status.

For the young Mumbai all-rounder, a maiden ODI call-up would represent another significant milestone in his progress through India's domestic and representative cricket system.
