IPL 2026 Playoff Qualification Scenarios: Which Teams Can Still Qualify?

The IPL 2026 playoff race has entered a crucial stage, with several teams still competing for the top four spots. As of May 9, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Rajasthan Royals are leading the points table, while teams in the middle of the standings continue to fight for qualification.

Sunrisers Hyderabad are currently in the strongest position. With 14 points already on the board, SRH need just one more victory from their remaining matches to almost confirm a playoff berth. Their consistent batting performances and balanced bowling attack have helped them stay ahead throughout the season.

Punjab Kings are also close to qualification. PBKS need two wins from their final five matches to comfortably reach 17 points and strengthen their chances of finishing in the top two. Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Rajasthan Royals remain in contention as well, but both teams will likely need at least 16 points to secure qualification without depending heavily on Net Run Rate.

Gujarat Titans still have a realistic chance of reaching the playoffs. Two wins from their remaining fixtures could take them to the important 16-point mark. Chennai Super Kings face a tougher challenge, as they may need to win three of their last four matches to stay alive in the race.

Delhi Capitals are now in a difficult situation after recent defeats. Their qualification hopes depend not only on winning remaining games but also on several other results going in their favor. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants are close to elimination and require near-perfect results in the final phase of the league stage.

Net Run Rate is expected to play a major role this season, especially for teams fighting around the 14 to 16-point mark. With every match becoming increasingly important, the final weeks of IPL 2026 are set to deliver an intense playoff battle.
