IPL 2027: Zaheer Khan, Kieron Pollard and Sourav Ganguly Take Charge as Head Coaches

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2027 season will see major changes in coaching leadership, with Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Mumbai Indians (MI) and Delhi Capitals (DC) appointing new head coaches ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Former India fast bowler Zaheer Khan will lead Chennai Super Kings, Kieron Pollard will take charge of Mumbai Indians, while former India captain Sourav Ganguly has been appointed head coach of Delhi Capitals. The appointments mark a new chapter for three of the league’s prominent franchises as they prepare for the next season.

CSK Appoint Zaheer Khan as Head Coach

Chennai Super Kings have appointed Zaheer Khan as head coach for IPL 2027, replacing Stephen Fleming, who reportedly concluded his long association with the franchise after 18 years.

Zaheer was a key member of India’s 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup-winning team and brings extensive international cricket experience to the role. He has also worked in coaching and mentoring positions in franchise cricket.

His appointment comes as CSK look to strengthen their coaching setup and prepare for another title challenge.

Kieron Pollard to Lead Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians have appointed Kieron Pollard as their head coach for IPL 2027, replacing Mahela Jayawardene.

Pollard shares a long history with the franchise, having played a crucial role in Mumbai Indians’ success before moving into a coaching position as batting coach. His promotion places a familiar figure at the helm as the five-time champions prepare for the new campaign.

The former West Indies all-rounder will be expected to bring his experience and understanding of the franchise to the team’s preparations for another IPL title bid.

Sourav Ganguly Appointed Delhi Capitals Head Coach

Delhi Capitals have appointed Sourav Ganguly as head coach ahead of IPL 2027. The former India captain has been associated with the franchise since 2019 and has held several leadership positions, including Director of Cricket.

Ganguly’s appointment adds another significant responsibility to his association with the Delhi-based franchise. His international experience and knowledge of franchise cricket will be central to the team’s preparations.

Delhi Capitals will aim to build greater consistency and strengthen their push for a maiden IPL title.

IPL 2027: Fresh Leadership, New Expectations

With Zaheer Khan at CSK, Kieron Pollard at Mumbai Indians and Sourav Ganguly at Delhi Capitals, the three franchises will enter IPL 2027 with renewed ambitions and changes in their coaching structures.

The focus will now shift to squad planning, player combinations and preparations for the upcoming season, with all three teams hoping their new leadership can deliver stronger performances.
