India are set to receive a timely boost ahead of their upcoming ICC World Test Championship assignment against Sri Lanka, with premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and experienced all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja expected to return for the two-match Test series beginning next month.

The senior selection committee is expected to announce India's Test squad later this week, and both Bumrah and Jadeja are likely to be included after being rested from the one-off Test against Afghanistan as part of workload management.

Massive Boost for Team India

The return of Bumrah and Jadeja comes at an important stage of India's World Test Championship campaign. Bumrah remains the leader of India's pace attack, while Jadeja's all-round ability with both bat and ball makes him one of the most valuable players in overseas conditions.

With valuable WTC points at stake, India will be eager to field their strongest available XI against Sri Lanka.

Squad Announcement Expected Soon

According to reports, the Indian selectors have already held informal discussions during the ongoing white-ball tour of England, with the official squad announcement expected later this week.

One of the key selection discussions revolves around the fitness of all-rounder Washington Sundar, while Bumrah and Jadeja are both expected to return if declared fully fit.

Crucial WTC Challenge

The series marks India's first Test tour of Sri Lanka in nearly nine years. The last time India toured the island for a Test series was in 2017, when Virat Kohli's side completed a memorable 3-0 whitewash.

Now under the leadership of Shubman Gill, India will look to continue that dominance and strengthen their position in the ICC World Test Championship standings.
