Sahibzada Farhan Nears No.1 Spot in ICC T20I Rankings After T20 World Cup Performances

The latest update to the ICC Men’s T20I player rankings has created an interesting battle at the top of the batting charts. Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan has climbed to second place and is now closing the gap on India’s Abhishek Sharma, who continues to hold the No.1 position.

Farhan’s rise in the rankings comes after an outstanding run of performances during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The right-handed batter produced several impactful innings in the tournament, including a memorable century against Sri Lanka during the Super Eight stage. That knock also made him the first player in the current edition of the tournament to register multiple centuries.

With these performances, Farhan improved his ranking points and now sits just behind Abhishek Sharma in the global standings. The Indian opener remains at the top of the T20I batting rankings, maintaining a narrow lead with a small advantage in rating points. Farhan’s consistent run-scoring in the tournament has significantly reduced that gap and strengthened his position among the world’s leading T20 batters.

Other Batters Move Up in Rankings

The conclusion of the Super Eight phase has also brought several changes in the T20I batting rankings. India’s Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma have both gained positions to enter the top ten after strong performances in the tournament. Meanwhile, South Africa’s Dewald Brevis has also moved up in the standings after contributing valuable runs for his team.

Zimbabwe batter Brian Bennett made one of the biggest jumps in the rankings after an impressive World Cup campaign. His run tally in the competition helped him move significantly higher on the list of top T20I batters.

Changes in Bowling and All-Rounder Rankings

In the bowling rankings, India spinner Varun Chakravarthy continues to hold the top position after an impressive wicket-taking performance in the tournament so far. Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed has moved closer to the top group following strong displays with the ball.

Among fast bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh have also improved their positions after consistent performances in recent matches.

In the all-rounder rankings, Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza remains the leading player, while India’s Hardik Pandya has moved into second place after contributing with both bat and ball.

As the T20 World Cup heads into its final stages, further performances in crucial matches could lead to more changes in the ICC rankings. The race for the top positions remains competitive, especially in the batting rankings where the battle between Abhishek Sharma and Sahibzada Farhan continues to attract attention.
